Focaccia is one of the easiest breads to make out there, and is pretty foolproof if you leave it be to rise. Chilli and rosemary are best buds, but feel free to change it around for a different vibe- any quickly cooking veg, herbs or aromatics are amazing.
Annnddd you get to live your best life and poke holes in the smooshy giggly dough like every 10th video does with focaccia on Instagram!
Recipe- Makes 1 focaccia
Ingredients
1 batch basic white dough
oil, to drizzle
2 springs of fresh rosemary
1 tsp dried chilli flakes
1 tsp onion flakes
1/2 tsp garlic salt
Grease a 22cm round cake tin with oil.
Press the bread dough into the bottom of the tin. Drizzle with oil and use your fingertips to create dimples in the dough. Pull the leaves off the rosemary and scatter over the top of the dough, along with the chilli flakes, onion flakes and garlic salt.
Leave to rise in a warm place for 30 minutes to an hour.
Preheat oven to 200°C.
Bake focaccia for 30-35 minutes or until the top has blistered and is golden brown. The bottom of it should sound hollow when tapped from underneath.
Leave to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes then transfer to a wire rack. Eat warm, spread lavishly with butter- not traditional, i know but I think butter on bread is compulsory ;)
